In May 2012, Construction Industry Council (CIC) announced the official name and logo design for the project. The English name “ZCB” was an acronym for Zero Carbon Building and sounded like "sexy bee", which was a symbol of sustainability and easy to remember. The Chinese name “零碳天地” literally meant “Zero Carbon World”. Both names were the winning submissions of a naming competition that attracted more than 1,700 entries. On 26 June 2012, a grand opening ceremony was held with Mr. John Tsang, the then Financial Secretary and Mr. Lee Shing-see, the then Chairman of CIC as officiating guests. On 5 January 2013, ZCB was opened to the public. To enhance the linkage with the construction industry, ZCB was renamed CIC-Zero Carbon Park in 2019.
